Am I able to customize the Platform to reflect the interests of my organization?
Yes, your company’s giving platform will be customized to reflect your brand—logo, brand colors, etc—and highlight the causes and nonprofits that mean the most to your business. You are in control of how this looks and can make updates at any time.
How does employee matching work?
As the admin, you get to set up the rules for matching gifts. You can decide the amounts, which nonprofits are eligible, and more. When an employee selects matching when making a donation, if their selection meets your parameters, the matching gift is automatically distributed.
Will EarthShare help me setup and configure my program?
Yes, we’ll help you setup your workplace giving platform, register your employees, and work with you to define an initial list of highlighted nonprofits and campaigns. We’ll also provide you with tools and ongoing support to showcase new opportunities, recommendations for inspiring your teams, and other best practices.
How does corporate/organizational giving work?
You can make any corporate/organizational level gifts directly through the Platform, just like an employee. This allows you to keep comprehensive, historical tracking alongside the efforts of your team. You can fund your organizational giving through ACH deposits or credit card payments. Our team is also available to support you with designing a giving strategy.
What is a private volunteer event?
You can work with EarthShare and our Nonprofit Partners to secure volunteer events that are private to your organization and not open to the public. These can be listed on our Platform, but will only be visible to your team. This type of event requires a payment or donation to the nonprofit you are partnering with.
How many Nonprofit Partners can we select and highlight on the platform?
There are more than 1.5M nonprofits listed on the Platform, with hundreds of vetted EarthShare Nonprofit Partners highlighted. Within the Spotlight sections of the Platform, you can select up to 10 organizations to be featured to your employees at any given time.
Are donations tax deductible?
Yes. 100% of the employee donations are tax deductible.
Will employees receive a tax receipt?
Yes. Employees will receive a tax receipt each time they contribute to their giving account. Receipts will be sent automatically via email and they can also find and download a copy in the Platform at any time. For payroll deductions, employees should utilize their pay stub for the payroll deduction period to utilize for tax purposes. Employees will also receive a notification of account funding—which can be used as a receipt for their gift—when payroll deductions are deposited.
What payment options are available to employees?
Employees can donate via credit card, ACH, or Payroll. The employee giving accounts provide a safe and secure way for employees to fund their own account with information on file.
Are there fees for credit card or ACH donations?
Yes. For credit cards, there is a standard fee of 2.2% +.30 each transaction or, for Amex, just 3.5% of each transaction. And for ACH, there is a fee of .8% of each transaction, capped at $5.
What browser is best to use to access the Platform?
Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and the latest version of Microsoft Edge are compatible with the Platform.
When will the nonprofits receive employee donations?
Most donations are delivered via electronic payment to the nonprofit within two weeks. Some nonprofit partners opt for payment via a paper check, which can take up to 30-45 days.
