EarthShare is a United States registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing environmental and conservation efforts through the expansion of dynamic philanthropic tools and in collaboration with independent donors, businesses, and nonprofits. We’re making charitable giving for the environment accessible to all people, efficient in moving money faster, and scalable to meet the world’s changing needs.
EarthShare has a Platinum Transparency rating on Candid and is ranked four stars on Charity Navigator.
EarthShare’s Three-Step Approach to Change
Despite the 81% supporting the protection and restoration of nature (UNDP), only 3% of U.S. philanthropy goes to environmental causes each year (Giving USA).
Since 1988, EarthShare has been bridging this gap between the public’s desire to support the environment—particularly in the workplace—and the donation methods available to do so. We have mobilized more than $500 million for environmental charities working to create a healthier planet.
EarthShare has focused these efforts into three key approaches:
Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)
The EarthShare DAF is a charitable giving platform that enables individuals to contribute tax-deductible cash and other eligible assets that they can grant to nonprofit organizations of their choice. EarthShare works with Amalgamated Bank and other sustainable banking partners, so all DAF funds, even those granted to non-environmental groups, are supporting climate-friendly initiatives along the way. EarthShare’s DAF makes it easy for everyone—regardless of technical knowledge or income—to support environmental philanthropy. There are no required minimums when it comes to funding your account or designating grants because we know that every dollar matters.

It’s a program that blends each company’s mission with its employee’s values. EarthShare’s workplace giving services are simple and convenient for employers and employees with minimum setup time, hands-on support, and environmental education and resources.
