A DAF designed for long-term philanthropic capital
EarthShare’s donor-advised fund pricing is designed to support environmental philanthropy at scale.
As fund size grows, fees decline significantly, reaching as low as 0.05% for funds over $100 million. Unlike many traditional providers, our structure is transparent, predictable, and designed for sophisticated philanthropic strategies.
- Transparent pricing | No opaque institutional fee negotiations or layered administrative costs.
- Designed for scale | Built to support sophisticated philanthropic structures and large environmental commitments.
- Mission-aligned stewardship | A specialized environmental partner with decades of experience supporting high-impact philanthropy.
EarthShare Fees
Account balances under $25,000 are assessed a one-time 2% mission fee on deposits.
If net proceeds are greater than or equal to $25,000, fees will be determined by the following schedule:
- $25,000 – $9,999,999 = 0.20%
- $10M – $19,999,999 = 0.15%
- $20M – $34,999,999 = 0.12%
- $35M – $49,999,999 = 0.10%
- $50M – $74,999,999 = 0.08%
- $75M – $99,999,999 = 0.07%
- More than $100M = 0.05%
The EarthShare Difference
EarthShare is built for foundations and family offices focused on environmental philanthropy, combining the flexibility of a donor-advised fund with the infrastructure required for complex, multi-entity giving.
Unlike general-purpose DAF providers, we specialize in environmental impact and work directly with foundations, family offices, and their advisors to support more coordinated, long-term philanthropic strategies.
We provide the administrative backbone for sophisticated grantmaking, including multi-year commitments, collaborative funding structures, and complex asset contributions. This reduces operational burden while supporting more intentional deployment of philanthropic capital.
EarthShare is not a wealth manager. We are a specialized philanthropic partner designed to integrate into foundation and family office structures and strengthen environmental giving across broader financial and legacy strategies.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is a donor-advised fund?
A donor-advised fund is a charitable giving account that allows you to contribute assets, receive an immediate tax deduction, and recommend grants to nonprofits over time.
Why would a family office or private foundation use a DAF?
Many family offices and foundations use a donor-advised fund to add flexibility and efficiency to their philanthropy. A DAF allows you to set aside charitable capital, receive an immediate tax deduction, and recommend grants to nonprofits over time with minimal administrative burden.
It can also complement an existing foundation by streamlining smaller or time-sensitive grants, enabling collaborative funding, and allowing family members to pursue their own philanthropic priorities while keeping overall giving simple and strategic.
How are you different from large commercial DAF sponsors?
We are a mission-driven nonprofit partner built specifically to support environmental philanthropy. In addition to competitive fees and flexible administration, we offer deeper sector expertise, more hands-on grantmaking support, investment stewardship that considers environmental impact, and a stronger emphasis on actively deploying charitable capital. For many donors and advisors, this results in a more aligned philanthropic experience than a purely transactional DAF platform.
Why give through EarthShare?
EarthShare combines more than 35 years of environmental expertise with an intuitive giving platform that makes philanthropy simple, strategic, and mission-aligned.
How much do I need to start?
There are no minimums to open a donor-advised fund. You can start with any amount and contribute additional funds at any time.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes. Contributions to an EarthShare Donor-advised Fund are tax-deductible charitable donations, and receipts are issued automatically.
Can I transfer an existing donor-advised fund?
Yes. Transfers from other donor-advised fund sponsors are straightforward and can usually be completed quickly. Our team will assist with the process.
Is there a payout expectation?
EarthShare encourages donors to grant at least 20% annually and distribute 100% of contributed funds within five years, reflecting our belief that philanthropic capital should move quickly to support real-world impact.
What if I plan to contribute significantly?
For donor-advised funds with annual contributions above $25,000, EarthShare can create a customized service plan aligned with your philanthropic strategy.
Can I contribute complex assets to an EarthShare Donor-advised Fund?
Yes. In addition to cash contributions, EarthShare can support donations of appreciated securities and other complex assets such as private company shares and certain real estate interests. Our team works with donors, advisors, and legal counsel to structure these contributions efficiently and ensure compliance with IRS requirements. Contributing complex assets can be a powerful way to unlock philanthropic capital while potentially reducing capital gains exposure.
Can grants be made anonymously?
Yes. EarthShare can facilitate anonymous grantmaking when requested. Donors may choose whether their name is shared with recipient organizations or kept confidential. This flexibility allows foundations, family offices, and individual donors to support causes they care about while maintaining privacy when appropriate.
Can my financial advisor remain involved?
Yes. We regularly coordinate with financial advisors, family office staff, and philanthropic consultants to support investment oversight, grant planning, and fund strategy.
How are you different from community foundations or other issue-focused philanthropic sponsors?
Community foundations and issue-specific sponsors often emphasize regional priorities or operate primarily as place-based or issue-bound grantmaking intermediaries. Our donor-advised fund program is structured as a national philanthropic platform dedicated to environmental impact. We support giving across geographies, funding strategies, and asset types while coordinating closely with financial advisors and family office teams. With flexible grantmaking support, mission-aware investment stewardship, and infrastructure designed for more complex philanthropic strategies, donors can manage giving with greater continuity within a single charitable structure.
