A Year of Success: Celebrating MetLife Green Team Achievements
The past year has been one of dedication, growth, and action for MetLife Green Teams around the world. We have loved seeing the successes your teams have shared, big and small, and want to highlight the amazing progress we’re making toward sustainability in the workplace and in our communities. This year, we:
- Far surpassed our goal of engaging 3,000 volunteers and 5,000 volunteer hours as part of our MetLife Extraordinary Litter Pickup (MELP) program!
- Participated in MetLife’s new Climate School courses to learn more about the climate channel and ways to combat the threats.

Japan
Launched a new initiative to collect used PC and other electronic devices (and waste) from both the company and employees for donation. These items are donated to People Port, a company that collects used electronic devices for free, provides stable employment for refugees in Japan and sells refurbished PCs which reduces the environmental impact by 90% compared to new ones. Also, the amount equivalent to the sales of donated items will be used for children’s support efforts, which is an important area of our CSR activities.
Cary, NC
Got up close and personal with MetLife honeybees and their beautiful hives with scheduled beehive tours and volunteered with local wild animal sanctuaries.
Atlanta, GA
Successfully eliminated Styrofoam from the office!
Chile
Adhered to Acción Empresas, a business network that promotes sustainability practices and started an ongoing campaign to promote recycling and education.
Tampa, FL
Regularly partnered with local nonprofits, such as TREE, Inc., as part of the Tampa Bay Reforestation and Environmental effort. They also partnered with Arbor Day Foundation on tree planting projects.
Lebanon
Celebrated Earth Day by encouraging employees to take the stairs, turning off heating and cooling systems for the entire day, encouraging employees to carpool, and wearing green shirts to celebrate nature.
Bridgewater, NJ
Held an Earth Awareness Fair where sustainability focused vendors, non-profits, and organizations were invited in to set up tables and talk with employees about various environmental topics. New York City, NY
Held a book and clothing drive which were both incredibly successful and included donation to the New York City Housing Works.
Charlotte, NC
Took part in the Adopt a Stream program which commits MetLife employees to participate in regular stream clean ups to remove litter from the local waterways.
