The Times Square New Year's Eve ball has come a long way from its first design in 1907. Originally comprised of 100 incandescent light bulbs, our modern ball is filled with a kaleidoscope of thousands of efficient LED lights.

The Alliance to Save Energy recently suggested 2013 could be the "year of the LED". LED lightbulbs are 75% more efficient than standard incandescent bulbs and last a lot longer. How long? Take this quiz to test your knowledge. Up to how many years can an LED lightbulb last for?

A.15 years

B. 25 years

C. 35 years

D. 45 years

The correct answer is B. 25 years (source).
