Events and Opportunities

1) A Day of Service for Dr. King
A record number of Americans
have answered President-elect Obama’s call for citizens to serve on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and throughout the year. The president-elect’s inaugural team is working in conjunction with the Corporation for National and Community Service , which has sought to transform the King Holiday into a national day of service. The day of nationwide events, co-sponsored by the Student Conservation Association (SCA), takes aim at fighting hunger , supporting a healthy the environment (a cause close to our hearts), enriching education and much more.

Stop by MLKDay.gov to see the thousands of projects across the country in need of your help and make a volunteer pledge. As Dr. King said, “Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.”

2) Join EarthShare of Missouri member groups Trailnet and the World Bird Sanctuary for a week of eagle-watching activities at the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge in St. Louis, Missouri. Hundreds of schoolchildren from Missouri and Illinois come to the Bridge for this annual event to witness the majesty of eagles and learn about the importance of improving their habitat. This conservation education program culminates in the popular Eagle Days public viewing on Saturday, January 17 and Sunday, January 18. >>MORE
