Preparing the nation for a new age

America Our country and people around the world thrilled to the words of America’s new leader earlier in the week. In his address, President Obama talked about how pursuing green initiatives can mean opportunities for new jobs and a sustainable future: “…we will act, not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth …We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories."

EarthShare’s member groups have long recognized the potential in “green collar” jobs and engaging individuals in building a healthy environment. Check out the American Solar Energy Society’s green collar job forecast; watch EESI’s October green jobs briefing summit on Capitol Hill ; and see what the Environmental Defense Fund has to say about the connection between environmental health and economic growth.
