Giving wisely during the holidays…and beyond.

If you’re thinking about the environment this holiday season, consider this: according to Planet Green, "…change is needed now more than ever on countless eco-fronts. And giving to a green-guided charity just may be enough to help turn the tide." Given our country’s current economic situation, you’re probably also more concerned than ever with making sure your valuable donation dollars count. One way to give wisely is by being an informed donor and, luckily, there are many free, reputable online resources to help you do so! Search for charity assessments on independent ‘watchdog’ sites like CharityNavigator.org and Guidestar.org. You can also get educated about your favorites charities through the Better Business Bureau’s Accredited Charity resource. Whatever cause you decide to support this season, remember to make your end-of-year giving decisions by December 31 to qualify for tax deductions in this calendar year. >> MORE

Kids – Join the Big Green Help challenge!

NBA star LeBron James, actor Cameron Diaz and Nickelodeon have teamed up to create the first online multiplayer 3D global game designed for youth. The goal: inspiring kids to take action for a greener world! Kids play and learn useful environmental trivia and pledge to take greener actions. EarthShare members Natural Resources Defense Council and National Wildlife Federation have pledged their support, recognizing a fun way to get the younger generation on board with environmental awareness and stewardship. Share this nifty new game with your young environmentalists over the holidays. Looking for more ideas for youth involvement?
