Wildlife Conservation Society: Elephants Fear Roads
The Wildlife Conservation Society, an EarthShare member, recently released a study which found that African elephants have come to equate roads with poachers and death. Tracking the elephants via satellite, the researchers found that elephants restrict their traditional roaming to keep away from roads, leaving them confined, isolated and likely competing for food.
