Keep Your Loved Ones PVC-free for the Holidays

Did you know that polyvinyl chloride plastic (PVC)—a commonly used material in children’s toys and household items— often contains dangerous toxic additives such as phthalates and lead? This year, nix the poison plastic and stick with healthy, environmentally-friendly gifts for your loved ones. That’s the message from the Center for Health, Environment and Justice, an EarthShare member group. They just published their free guide, “ Pass Up the Poison Plastic, to help you learn how to identify plastics that contaminate our environment with dioxins - a highly toxic group of chemicals that build up in the food chain and can cause cancer and harm the immune and reproductive systems.
