National Public Lands Day began in 1994, as a means to educate and get the American public involved in the protection and restoration of our public lands. National Public Lands Day officially takes place in September, and garners thousands of volunteers from around the country who roll up their sleeves to refurbish our shared lands and raise awareness about the environmental issues threatening their existence.

But preserving our shared landscape calls for help year-round. From building trails and bridges to restoring wildlife habitats like stream banks and shorelines, you can give back to the lands that have provided you with years of fun and recreation.
