Newly installed carpets made from synthetic fibers can emit "volatile organic compounds" (VOCs), chemically unstable airborne compounds that can produce headaches, fatigue, nausea, and nasal congestion. If you think you may be sensitive to VOCs, take the following precautions when buying and installing a new carpet.

We don't use carpets because we have a baby and she's very sensitive.

Synthetic fibers are cheap and easy to wash. When I go shopping for carpets, most vendors sell synthetic fibers. I'm lucky that my family are not sensitive to VOC's. Anyway thanks for the great information.
